Going Virtual

Both eTutoring and your teacher's virtual classroom (IdahoLive) use a program called Collaborate Ultra. Collaborate Ultra is a synchronous program that enables you to communicate with others at the same time while you are online. It is similar to Google Hangouts. Using Collaborate Ultra, you can chat similar to IM, use speakers and a microphone to talk over the Internet, and you can even use video if you have a webcam. Collaborate Ultra has tools such as interactive white boards and screen sharing apps to help you and your teacher work together in this "virtual" classroom.

Take a moment to practice accessing Collaborate Ultra using this link:

Here are some hints for getting set up in Collaborate Ultra:

Click your avatar then my settings to set up your camera, microphone and speakers and to give your browser permission to use audio and video in the live session. You do not need to have a microphone, but speakers or headphones will be very useful if you want to hear what your teacher is saying to you.
